AI Extends Creativity. It Doesn’t Replace It.
Building a fashion brand is a journey of imagining, learning, and constantly reinventing. As the founder of Yellow Bloom, I’ve realised that creativity isn’t a moment of inspiration — it’s an ongoing commitment to understanding women, telling stories, and presenting products in a way that reflects who we are.
One of the most demanding yet essential parts of this journey is our fashion photoshoots. What looks like a simple aesthetic picture is actually the result of a long, detailed process: working with an experienced photographer, finding the right models, coordinating with a makeup artist, finalising themes, mood boards, and then editing, designing, and shaping the visuals into meaningful communication. Even a basic shoot requires weeks of preparation and refinement.
As a bootstrapped brand, I’ve repeated this cycle to keep Yellow Bloom fresh and relevant — balancing creativity and budget while managing all parts of the business. Yet every finished shoot reminds me why I started.
Like many founders, I’ve also been exploring how AI can support our creative work. AI cannot replace the authenticity, texture, or emotional nuance of a real photoshoot. But it can extend what’s possible with the images we already have.
AI lets me reinterpret our real photographs in new ways, test backgrounds, colours, moods, and compositions, and experiment with ideas that might be too expensive or impossible to capture in one shoot. It helps me understand what resonates before planning the next production. A real shoot gives limited frames; AI lets me explore beyond those limits.
When I started regenerating past Yellow Bloom photos with AI tools, I realised how much still depends on human vision. AI can speed up steps, but the imagination — the “what should this look like?” — comes from me. It needs patience, experimentation, and refinement. Many versions don’t work, and the process involves revisiting and trying again.
After weeks of trial and iteration, I finally re-created a set of AI-enhanced static images for Yellow Bloom. They aren’t replacements for our shoots, but thoughtful extensions — new interpretations that keep our content fresh between bigger productions.
This journey reminded me: AI is powerful, but it is not the creator. The vision and soul of a brand come from human direction.
As Yellow Bloom grows, I hope to keep blending real craftsmanship with new-age innovation — staying true to our core: comfort, beauty, and the joy of everyday living.
