Celebrating the Beauty of Responsibility
The decision to marry is one of the most important choices that a woman makes. While many factors impact her life, marriage and motherhood certainly are at the top of that list.
Multi-dimensional changes enter a woman’s daily routine and long-term plans, and she has to recalibrate all her life decisions to take along her entire family.
The short title ‘Mrs.’, which goes before a married woman’s name, carries the weight of the world – she is now the captain of her family’s ship, steering all kinds of responsibilities and donning multiple hats each day. Years of constant challenges, difficult choices, and multitasking follow.
Sometimes, in this long, enriching but sometimes arduous journey, the ship’s captain can forget her own dreams, desires, and aspirations. Devoted to the welfare of everyone who depends on her, optimizing every minute of her time, she can overlook that she needs nurturing too.
Some of these ‘Mrs’ are newly married, struggling to learn how to nurture new relationships while also balancing the old ones. Some are busy setting up their dream homes. There are others who step into motherhood and get exceptionally busy raising children. Then there are those who have largely completed their responsibilities, having taken care of their in-laws and parents and ensuring their kids have grown into self-reliant adults.
Each of these groups has distinct challenges of their own.
However, a woman of substance always bounces back and emerges stronger with every test life throws at her.
Mrs India Karnataka Beauty and Talent Pageant is a one-of-its-kind event that provides a platform to such women – who, despite their many challenges, are still very much the captains of their ships as well as their lives.
Beautifully balancing the many demands on their lives, like a skilled tightrope walker, they know how to keep pushing the envelope, stepping out of their comfort zones, and constantly working on self-improvement by learning new skills.
Mrs Pratibha, home-maker, beauty pageant winner, entrepreneur, and the founder of Mrs India Karnataka, is one such lady.
She started the pageant eight years ago to celebrate women power and applaud homemakers, mothers, and working women. The participants span a wide range of ages and backgrounds – from 18 years old to 60+ years old. They also come from all walks – lifelong committed homemakers and working wives and mums, including doctors, teachers, social workers, lawyers, bankers, social media influencers, and more.
Mrs. Pratibha embodies the spirit of Mrs India Karnataka, having beautifully balanced her household responsibilities and professional and social aspirations. She won the Mrs India crown in 2015, becoming the first South Indian woman to do so. She then went on to represent India at the Asia World Final where she bagged the ‘Classic Mrs Asia International Photogenic’ award 2015. The under-representation of women from southern India in beauty and personality contests inspired Pratibha to start Mrs India Karnataka in 2016.
“In the eight editions so far, we have had numerous state queens in three age categories, 22-40 years, 40-60 years, and 60+ years, go on and win national and international competitions. The contest has helped numerous immensely gifted women to step out of their comfort zones and start their journeys as entrepreneurs, social workers, influencers, etc. Hence, our tag lines are ‘Age is just a number’ and ‘Changing lives’,” says Mrs Pratibha.
Yellow Bloom for Women Empowerment
Yellow Bloom premium loungewear is the official partner of Mrs India Karnataka 2024, a one-of-its-kind three-day event starting August 29th with the winners being declared on 31st.
Offering a perfect blend of style and practicality, Yellow Bloom’s chic comfort wear is super trendy, making it a preferred choice for women of all ages.
The brand was started by a young mother, Shubhra, who, like Mrs Pratibha and the exceptionally gifted participants of Mrs India Karnataka, exemplifies determination, perseverance, and resilience.
Shubhra, founder of Yellow Bloom, is a celebrated fashion designer and a committed homemaker out on a journey of designing and creating apparel that lets women express themselves in their many forms and hues.
“Yellow Bloom is proud to be the loungewear partner for Mrs India Karnataka 2024. As a keen observer of social trends, we know that married women sacrifice a lot to build their families and get soaked in the innumerable responsibilities that come with marriage. We are honored to be associated with such responsible and mature women,” says Shubhra.
Talking about her brand, she says, “At Yellow Bloom, we strive to provide versatile and aesthetically appealing clothing that helps women transition effortlessly between home and work with confidence, style, and joy. We proudly proclaim that our loungewear is made with superior-quality fabric and reflects the best of global fashion. It is not limited to the bedroom and can be easily worn in the different environments in which wives and mothers work. As they fulfill their many roles, our apparel makes them look stylish, fashionable, and self-confident.”
On the first day of Mrs India Karnataka, participants will don Yellow Bloom designs during an evening event, which will include both a ramp walk and a get-together. “It will have both indoor and outdoor elements, so the organizers were keen to get us on board, as our clothes are known for their versatility, chicness, quality, and comfort,” says Shubhra.
On the second day, there is a sports event in which participants will enjoy various outdoor activities such as cycling and playing tennis. As they showcase their athletic and sporting abilities, Yellow Bloom’s stylish pajama sets will make them look chic, comfortable, and confident.
Talking about women empowerment being one of the core brand values of Yellow Bloom, Shubhra says, “We believe in empowering every woman to express herself and celebrate her unique style. Ours is a three-pronged strategy: One – our clothes are designed to make all women look great while feeling incredibly comfortable no matter where they are…busy in the kitchen, working from home, at the local market, walking the dog, vacationing at a beach, or dropping off kids at school. Secondly, Yellow Bloom promotes its offerings through real successful women, including passionate homemakers. Finally, and most importantly, we wish to support ethical labor practices in garment production, engaging local women in creating world-class premium loungewear. We already have a small ongoing initiative related to vocational training of rural women, which we wish to expand and bring to Karnataka as well.”
Yellow Bloom envisions becoming a beacon of comfort and confidence, redefining nightwear with a collection that seamlessly blends style and relaxation. Through sustainable practices, the brand aims to make a positive impact on both the wearers and the environment, fostering a community that feels empowered and beautiful in every way.
